I just attended the fast track process for the Sales & Trading Division at MS and was successful. If anyone is interested about details of how MS have structured their assessment centre I will be glad to help.Congratulations.
A relatively random question, however did anyone from University College London attend?
Getting through it was not very easy. We had a 6 hour-long assessment centre with three interviews, one group project and one individual presentation + the most difficult SHL test I have ever done (advanced management test, it was called).
As far as I can remember there were two people I knew from UCL.

Ah I see. Well, I attended the spring program with MS and they offered me a fast track process for S&T. As far as I know that is the only way to actually get on a fast track, unless you are well connected, of course.
As for the test, yes it is far harder than any test I have seen or done (and I have had my share of tests). Number of graphs is not one but 3, and questions are a lot longer and. However, do bear in mind that everyone will be doing the same thing so everyone will find it difficult.

Well, we started with the numerical test, then moved on to a group exercise, which consisted of our group (8 people) working through 8 different investment projects and deciding in which one to invest, according to a predefined set of instructions. The whole thing lasts for about 40 minutes, with 10 to research your project and 30 to discuss the projects.
After that we had a individual presentation. We were given the materials for the presentation and had 20 minutes to prepare a 10 minute presentation.
Then, we had 3 interviews with very senior people. Mine were with 3 MDs. Interview need not be technical, but if you are reading a degree such as finance or economics you might be asked technical questions. I am quite involved in a trading and investment club, have had other internships, and am reading Finance and Economics so I got the most technical questions from the entire group.
As far as I am aware recruiters have a break now and will start looking at summer applicants in about 2 - 3 weeks and the process will consist of 2 rounds, with one being the Assessment Centre.
hope this helps...

very well done - cool, useful post!
I got a first round interview with Morgan Stanley coming up on Tuesday for IBD, could anyone offer any advice on the sort of things I should be expecting? I hear there's apparently three rounds of interviews in a typical recruiting process? Sounds pretty competitive, if anyone could shed light on what I should be expecting, I'd very much appreciate it!

Obtaining an internship is much tougher this year. Plenty of summer interns this year unable to get grad jobs in this economy are applying again for internships and doing postgrad degrees.many of them are also re-think their career in banking...we will probably see a run towards consulting...

Obviously he is using the Barcap offer to get the fast track procedure and change it for MS IBD offer... smart move! MS is much better and will open any door you want..How do u get short listed if u have an offer from another bank? You have to go through the whole process anyway, and could mention that u need a quick answer due to another offer, but that does not mean u could be short listed
My mate who got a DB offer in the past told GS this and he got interviews in 2 days time ....e.g. DB offer on Tuesday, interview with GS on Friday and got a GS offer...F/O IBD
Actually its quite bad if you think about it.. all top 15 banks are great firms with great people but nowadays people care so much about prestige and exit options .. and those exit options such as BX, KKR tend to pick people from MS, GS IBD or good levfin teams at top 5 BB banks only
My advice if yo uwant to play this game, play it by its rules..Having MS/GS on your CV opens more doors
